Shower & Bathroom Waterproofing

Keep the Water in the Shower

Your shower gets wet every day, for years. The only thing between that water and your wall frames and floor is the membrane under the tiles. If it’s thin in a corner or around the waste, water gets through, and you won’t know until there’s damage.

We waterproof showers, bathrooms and laundries to AS 3740, the Australian Standard for wet areas in homes. We also set the fall in the floor, so water runs to the drain and doesn’t sit. When it’s done, you get the certificate.

How we work

How We Waterproof a Shower

01

Check the base and the falls

The floor has to slope to the drain before any membrane goes on. If it doesn’t, we screed it first.

02

Prime and seal the joins

We prime the surface and reinforce the corners, the wall-to-floor join and around the waste.

03

Membrane the wet area

The shower floor and walls are coated to the heights AS 3740 calls for, with curing time between coats.

04

Tile and certify

Once it has cured we tile over it, or leave it ready for your own tiler. Either way you get the certificate.

Leaking Shower? Send Us a Photo

Sometimes the silicone has failed and a reseal fixes it. If the membrane has gone, the shower needs to be stripped back, waterproofed again and re-tiled. We do all of it, and we’ll tell you straight which one we think you need.

Questions People Ask Us

Do I get a certificate?
Yes. You get a waterproofing certificate with every wet area we waterproof.
How long does it take?
It depends on the size of the area and the curing time of the product. We give you the timing when we quote, and we don’t tile over a membrane until it has cured.
Can you waterproof it and leave the tiling to someone else?
Yes. We quote waterproofing on its own, or together with the tiling.
Do you waterproof the whole bathroom or just the shower?
We waterproof the areas AS 3740 requires for your bathroom, and we show you what that covers when we quote.
My shower is leaking. What should I do?
Send us a few photos. Sometimes the silicone has failed and a reseal sorts it. If the membrane under the tiles has failed, the shower needs to be stripped back, waterproofed again and re-tiled. We can do all of that.
