These photos are from recent large-format jobs: a stone-look walk-in shower, a wall tiled around a window, and marble-look walls behind a vanity.
In the in-progress shots you can see the orange levelling clips at every joint. They hold each tile level with the next one until the adhesive sets. It takes longer, but it’s how big tiles end up looking like one flat surface.
Clips and wedges keep neighbouring tiles level with each other while the adhesive cures.
Windows, niches and drains are worked into the layout from the start, so the cuts end up where you don’t notice them.
Big tiles show every dip, so we level the floor or wall before we fix anything.
Large tiles need adhesive across the whole back. We use trade products such as Mapei and Davco.
Showers and wet areas are waterproofed to AS 3740 before we tile, and a certificate is supplied.
We check levels through the job, not just at the end.
